Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Since 2009
What is your primary product or service?
Roadside Assistance and Auto Lockouts
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Most of career was spent in auto sales and computer technology sales. I was brokering used cars full time and started driving for a larger road service as a part time gig to make extra money to help with family expenses several years ago and have never been able to or wanted to get away from it. Most roadside customers are the most appreciative people that I've seen in all my years of sales and that is hard to just walk away from.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Obviously we are all in business to make money and provide for our families. My personal opinion is that most of my competitors are way more interested in taking advantage of people when they are down and out by over charging. On The Road Again loves to help people in need. We are always willing to work with stranded motorists to first get them safely off the side of the road and then worry about payment after. In situations where someone might have for instance left the house without their wallet or purse, we help them and take their word and they always go the extra mile to pay us if we go the extra mile to help them. Some of our competition would leave them stranded without cash up front and that is borderline unethical. I often tell my wife "that could be my mom or that could be my daughter". That's how we do business here.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one central dispatch office but we cover all of Will County and portions of the surrounding counties usually in less than 30 minutes.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are a mobile service that goes to our customers wherever they need us in Will County and portions of surrounding counties.
What type of payments do you accept?
Credit, debit, check, purchase orders, cash and will invoice in some situations.
Which areas do you service?
Joliet,Crest Hill,Romeoville,Bolingbrook,Lockport,
Homer Glen,Plainfield,Shorewood,Channahon,Minooka,Morris,Wilmington,Braidwood,
Coal City,Elwood,Manhattan,New Lenox,Frankfort,Mokena,Orland Park,Tinley Park,Rockdale,Lemont plus more.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Brook Melvin
What are your hours of operation?
24/7/365
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
A Tip. Just Kidding. There is no better feeling then when someone tells you that they don't know what they would have done if my company didn't exist. When someone is truly stranded with nobody else to call for help and we can be the only difference between them having a minor detour or a major catastrophe and you can see the appreciation in their eyes and hear it in their voice. That feeling will keep us in business for a long time.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
I don't know if it is my favorite but on the back of our business cards I have a quote by an unknown author that reads:"Never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly"
